Incoming call management: As incoming calls are received AscenTel™ serves as a first point of contact for responding to calls or routing them to appropriate destinations, thus reducing the administrative call burden on skilled staff. AscenTel™ can manage calls that pile up when your staff can't answer thus reducing hold time length, managing variable call volume, or easing the burden of third shift staffing and supervision. Unlike traditional IVR systems, AscenTel™ can handle more complex calls and can dramatically increase caller satisfaction.

Name directory call forwarding: AscenTel™ can match the caller’s voice request to department lists as well as patient admissions records from hospital databases and then direct the call to the correct destination thus freeing operators from routine call transfers.

Ascent’s next generation of AscenTel™ speech applications will handle more complex requirements using natural language and mixed initiative dialogs.
Triage for critical care: AscenTel™ will be the first point of contact for medical institutions, or other organizations that provide critical service. AscenTel™ will qualify patient or other caller needs, capture information, and redirect calls that require more in-depth support to the appropriate staff. Such screening lets triage nurses; doctors or other professionals focus on issues that require their skills by reducing their role in routine calls. Automatic call transfer allows highly critical emergencies to pass through to live operators by voice command or DTMF input. This ensures that patients or other callers in critical situations get a quick response when they need it.

Physician referral service: For customers needing assistance in choosing a physician, AscenTel™ will provide responses to a variety of caller request. Callers may inquire and receive information such as the following:
