Ascent Computing Group Named to Inc Magazine’s Inc 500 second year in a row
As One Of The Nation’s Fastest Growing Companies

Entrepreneurial Voice Technology Company Recognized for Continued Growth and Advancement of the Voice Industry

White Plains, New York (October 22, 2001) – Ascent Computing Group (Ascent) has once again been named to Inc Magazine’s prestigious “Inc 500” list, a ranking of the nation’s leading entrepreneurial firms according to sales growth over the previous five years. Ascent, the only provider of both voice-based technology software and IT business solutions, has been consistently profitable since its inception in 1994.

"The acknowledgment by Inc Magazine of our continued growth and success for the second year in a row is a tremendous honor," said Sunil Nikhar, Chairman and CEO of Ascent Computing Group. "With new innovative ideas, we will leverage our knowledge and experience to advance our organization to the next phase of development within voice technology. We are proceeding with the on-going creation of voice technology products and partnerships."

In order to achieve this goal, Ascent recently announced that it will collaborate with Intel on sales and marketing activities to jointly deliver speech applications to the marketplace. With Ascent’s product, AscenTel™, users have the ability to request and receive information verbally from enterprise databases allowing transactions to be conducted over a reliable and secure infrastructure.

“The Inc 500 gives America a window on the future – which companies will be the Microsofts and the Timberlands of tomorrow,” said George Gendron, Inc Editor-in-chief. “The economy may have slowed, but entrepreneurial enterprises have always been, and will continue to be, the nation’s foremost engine of growth and job creation. Ascent has proven to be a leader in the technology arena and will continue to develop economically and generate success stories.”

Ascent’s clients are leading organizations from various industries and include Deutsche Bank, Avon, Cisco, Qwest Communications and Duke Energy among others. Ascent reported revenues of over 13.8 million in 2000 and 1.3 million in 1996. To be eligible for this year’s Inc 500, companies had to be independent and privately held through 2000, had at least $200,000 in sales in the base year of 1996, and had 2000 sales exceeding 1999 sales.
