Beginnings Ascent Computing Group Inc., started in 1994 as an business IT Solutions and Services firm. Founder, Sunil Nikhar opened Ascent's first office in White Plains, NY with two employees. Ascent has a seven-year track record of successfully delivering business applications, generating revenues and sustaining profitability with a growth rate of over 800% over the last 5 years. Since 1994, Ascent has successfully deployed a wide range of IT solutions for many healthcare, finance, insurance, technology, energy and other industries. Ascent has grown rapidly, predominantly through referrals and word-of-mouth. By 1998, Ascent was a very well established provider of Business Solutions and professional services for the Fortune 1000 and Digital 1000 clients. Ascent completed 2000 with over 135 employees. Today Today, Ascent Computing Group Inc, an Inc 500 and Fast 500 company is the only provider of both voice based business application software and business IT solutions and services. Ascent is engaged in two main lines of business: (a) Voice-enabling platform (AscenTel™) and voice-technology solutions and customized voice applications (b) Business Solutions - providing IT (Information Technology) consulting and professional services, and custom and standardized application development services. Voice Technology Division - Ascent has developed AscenTel™, a proprietary technology software that enables companies of all sizes to deliver enterprise and Internet data to their customers and mobile employees using voice: either via a wireless or a landline telephone. AscenTel™ uniquely voice-enables all business applications running on any operating system using VoiceXML enhanced with Natural Language Processing. Users now have the ability to request and receive information verbally from enterprise databases and can also conduct transactions over an authenticated, secure and reliable infrastructure. The technology provides the ability for "hard" or written confirmation, either via e-mail or on the user's handheld/wireless device. An earlier version of the product, developed as a voice browser, an audio-based product for the visually impaired and blind people was showcased at Internet World 2000 in New York in November 2000.
